Apex Cell Ministries was formed in the summer 2003 within the Chicago area of the Community of Christ church.

The word Apex is defined as the highest point. We believe that every teenager has the ability and desire to reach their full potential or "highest point" and that it our responsibility to help them get  there.  In order for this to happen, we need to rethink teen ministry as we know it.

Using a cell group model, Apex Cell Ministries places a strong focus on the following parts of life:

- Developing a relationship with a loving God
- Understanding self worth
- Building strong relationships with peers
- Open and honest communication
- A genuine caring for others
- Helping others learn about a God that loves them

The human body is made up of millions of cells (the basic unit of life).  The life of a cell-based ministry is also in its cells. 

Once a week, teenagers from across the Chicago-land area will gather in small groups to discuss issues that they consider relevant and how a relationship with Jesus Christ can be relevant to those issues and to their lives overall. 

These meetings are organized and led by teenagers.
